The CLOTWORTHY family
« on: Tuesday 23 October 07 11:49 BST (UK) »
Hi
I'm currently researching the Clotworthy family, and in particular the ancestors of one Hugh L Clotworthy. Hugh was born in Ireland (Belfast?) in 1816, but emmigrated to England in the 1830's. He's listed in the 1841 census as living in Liverpool with his wife Roseanne, and their three children, William, Anne and Robert.
The problem is that I'm having trouble finding his parents/siblings back home in Ireland.
If these names ring any bells with anyone then I'd be very grateful if you could get in touch with me.
Many Thanks
Andy

Hi Capt Jock
I've heard of the original Sir Hugh, but I'm wondering what the link is to my Hugh L Clotworthy. Obviously, the similarity in name and location suggests there's a link somewhere along the line, the problem is that it's evading me at the moment!

Hi Andy

My Clotworthy link is in the 1690's Eliza/Bessy.

I have found others on roots looking for them in England finding an Irish link in the early 1800's...sometimes they have Clothworthy....same with modern graves found have the extra H.

My search might fit in with yours.  I am looking for any info on Jane Clotworthy who married a Downing sometime around 1650 or 1660, possibly in Ireland, possibly in England.  Children of this union would have been: Adam, John, Daniel, George & Samuel.  Some of these chicks might have been out of a brother's nest but I think they were all out of the same on.
