I have one in my fron room of my nan as a young woman and one in the hall of my grandad with my mum aged about two

One of my dad looking handsome in his uniform and lots of others scattered around plus others in an album

Yes I talk to them too (and a bit of a rant at times)

I just wish I had some pictures of my mum's side of the family, other then one photo of my grandfather as a boy, and a contemporary one of my grandmother, I don't have any. I only ever knew my grandfather aswell, it would have been really nice to see what my grandmother looked like in her hay-day.

As for my father's side, I have a few photos of my grandmother, but have no idea what my grandfather looked like, he died when my father was 3mths old and the only pictures he had of him were stolen when his house was broken into long before I was born.

I have photos of my paternal grandmother's side of the family though that I keep with me which I am very grateful for!

Hi again,

Never give up hope of ever seeing a photograph.  I'm 52 never knew my G grandmothers name, let alone what she looked like. Started doing my tree last year, made contact with a 2nd cousin I vaguely remembered and hey presto, I now have a lovely photo of her proudly on my wall.

Same with me. I made contact with a 3rd cousin of my dad's, who of course none of us knew, just found her in doing research. She sent my pix of my gg grandparents and even my great-grandmother, and I just visited her a few weeks ago and got pictures of my ggg grandparents. Interestingly, my ggggrandfather looks exactly like my neighbor's son. Very eerie.

I have a picture of my grandma, aged about 6, and great grandad Wakefield , with some other people ,taken on one of those sunday prosession floats.
I had  never known anything about this side of my family ,until 4 yrs ago, a lady sent me the picture which she had found on a  Stafford site, one of my brother's is the double of great grandad Peter Wakefield, some day's the picture makes me smile, other day's it tugs at my heart, knowing that had thing's been different we would have been apart of each other's live's.
 it's genealogy emotional  :)

Crikey after reading this thread, it makes me appreciate even more all the photos i have.  Before i left Christchurch (am now living and boarding in Auckland), my lounge was full of my photos.  My brother called it my mausoleum LOL!  :-)  They are nearly all packed away until i move somewhere with more space eventually.  I feel guilty about shutting the rellies away after being out for so many years, it's like they are being reburied!  A lot of them are on my website.  I've had a tremendous lot of luck over my years in genealogy re photos.

Cheers
