I linked up with an elderly third cousin from the USA over the internet. She had a month's holiday in New Zealand and Australia, and spent a couple of days in Adelaide. I arranged to meet her and take her to a family get together, so she could meet other family members. We had the most wonderful day!

A few weeks after she returned home, I had the delivery of this huge parcel.....my wonderful family tree with a special note of thanks for the great day she had had with everyone here.

So all I know is that it came from the USA........

I've attached a photo of it with the first piccies I put on it......

Dee that is lovely. I bet with some Internet searching it could be found.

I too have pictures on my computer room wall and all over my living room. My kids call it the dead people gallery, but I love it. I also talk to them and sometimes yell at them. I just came into possession of pictures of my ggg grandparents from Coventry. I met up with a distant relative who had photos that had then been painted on and I took wonderful pictures of the originals. I am just looking for the perfect frames for them now.

I have four pics on the wall.

Some years back my two grand daughters aged 5 and 6 yrs were spending the day with us. They spotted these photos on the wall. They turned to me and started asking a lot of questions. Like

..."who are those people"
..."why are they wearing old clothes"
..."why aren't they smiling"
...'why are they so dark"
..."why is the old lady standing and the old man is sitting down"
..."where are they now"
..."did you go to their place"

I did my best to explain but they did have me in a tight spot. Not sure if I did convince them. I said to them "when you grow a bit older you'll get to know them better "

Not sure if that message did register in their little brain. Let's hope it did.

Dee that's beautiful ;D

I just wish I had photos of every branch to put on one.  My mam hasn't even got a photo of her dad (my grandfather).  He died when she was 17, her mum died when she was 3.  Any photos would have gone to her brother, as she was in the WRENs by then.  He says he hasn't got any photos of him - the one that he does remember having has gone missing.

I'm pleased it isn't only me who is surrounded by dead rellies though.

I also have a large scratchboard picture that I did in the eighties of a lone miner standing in front of Haig Pit, on the day it closed down.  The photo was in our local paper, a lovely silhouette that I took a liking to.  It inspired me to do the scratchboard, and also a smaller one for my dad for xmas (his dad, grandfather etc worked there).  This was all before I had any interest in family history.  The picture had pride of place in among the photos now.

Years ago, I had a picture of my dad as a baby and his mom as a young woman hanging on the wall, but none of my grandfather. I kept asking but he never got me a copy. Finally, one weekend when he was coming to visit, I hung a frame on my wall with a sign in it: "My Grandfather Leo." The next week I had a picture.  ;D ;D
