There's a pub called the Rifleman in Stafford, on Common Road near Marston Road.
I last went past it about 5 weeks ago and the lease is up for grabs.

I googled "rifle volunteer" Stafford and got the link to the defunct pubs.   It is the one I thought and it is the "right" one referrd to in this thread:  the "Rifleman" used to be the "Rifle Volunteer:"

I'll look out for No 10 Dave next time I drive up Common Road and let you know how the old place is doing :)  Best Wishes linell.

Hi,
The pub has since been turned into a private residence.
Passed that way in August 2014 looking for boundary road.
Found by googling...
"The pub closed in 2008 and was purhased by A P Webb Contractors Ltd whose premises backed onto the pub car park. Planning permission was granted for conversion to a dwelling and an extension to time of permission granted in November 2012. The property was eventually converted to resdential use in late 2013."
Absolutely 'Nothing' left to identify as a former Public House!!
