Thanks. There seem to be various families, each of which have some of the names I'm after, but they are never all together. Wish I had a time machine...
Suffolk, England – Benstead, Boldero, Boldy, Boyns, Boynes, Collins, Cooper, Elliott, Fletcher, Laflin, Laws, Lankester, Markham, Marshall, Orriss, Steward, Taylor, Thimblethorpe
Scotland – Barclay, Campbell, Finlay, Freeland, Grove, Hay, Horn, Laird, McDonald, McKay, Milne, Mills, Peebles, Robertson, Shearer, Stewart, Strang, Thomson

Don't despair, we're nearly there!

With Edwin at the centre, most of the names seem to fit in to a credible family tree.  Edwin's father William Lanceter Catchpole had a brother Alfred Charles Catchpole (1851-1888; married Maria Aldous Mickleburgh Sep 1877 Ipswich 4a 919). This Alfred  is unlikely to be the Alfred on your list as the March 27 birthdate doesn't fit well with a Sep 1851 birth registration, but the name Alfred may well have run in the family and therefore be capable of being linked to Edwin's extended family.

Incidentally, Lilian Irene Catchpole seems to have died as Lilian Irene Ford, Oct 1996 Ipswich D17B 272 - her birthdate of 2 Feb 1913 matches perfectly.

Hello:

If Thomas Markham m:03-04-1826 [St. Mary's, Bury St. Edmunds, Suffolk, England] to Elizabeth Boldero; then how can Samuel Markham (born Rendlesham 1820) be their son ?.

I think there are two different Markham families confused here. I initially thought that Alice Markham was the daughter of Thomas M. & Elizabeth Boldero; but I now believe she was the daughter of Samuel Markham & Mary Ann Steward, who married in Eyke in 1847. Samuel, born in Rendlesham, was the son of John Markham & Sarah King, m. 1802, Eyke.
Suffolk, England – Benstead, Boldero, Boldy, Boyns, Boynes, Collins, Cooper, Elliott, Fletcher, Laflin, Laws, Lankester, Markham, Marshall, Orriss, Steward, Taylor, Thimblethorpe
Scotland – Barclay, Campbell, Finlay, Freeland, Grove, Hay, Horn, Laird, McDonald, McKay, Milne, Mills, Peebles, Robertson, Shearer, Stewart, Strang, Thomson

Hello,

I am on the MARKHAM-UK Mail List, it is possible for all Markham type surname interests to be fully posted there as well ?. I am following all Markham lines. Yes, it does seem that there is at least two lines of Markham here, whether the same or not further up the tree, I don't know yet. One must make good note of who is living next to or close to each other in these census records. The 1861 Eyke Census, there seems to be at least more than one family of Markham there. You can also note the surname of BURCH. The one Samuel Markham is: [Rendlesham Parish Registers: Samuel Markham baptised 26th May, 1818, the son of John and Sarah. John was a labourer.]. Also: [Order for maintenance of bastard child of Elizabeth Coates (alias Storkey?) of Friston by Samuel Markham of Friston, 6th June 1810. FC 124/G3/13 1810.].

It would be much much easier for me to follow your research on the Markham list as well. thanks - SKM (95).
