William Taylor 1882 marries Amy Pruce  Dec 1901 Large family of Pruce decendents the pruces were Lightermen on Thames
Marriage of Daughter Beatrice Maud Taylor - Edward L Hunford 1944
Chingford
But as I say I know nothing of this other William Taylor only what we have been told

So this Chingford address is from a 1944 marriage?

I think if that is the case then you need to find the 1901 marriage certificate to confirm/clarify a few things before we can prgress this with any degree of certainty.

From the Post Office London Directory 1899 i checked these pubs i found in Blackfriars (googling Blackfriars pubs):~

174 Queen Victoria Street Blackfriars, Black Friar - landlord 'Cox'
Cockpit, Blackfriars - could not find
Crown & Sugar Loaf 26 Bride Lane - i could not find 26 but 14 was near new bridge street and 24 near fleet street
Old Bell, city of london - Carr Eliza (Mrs) Ye Olde Bell Hotel
Olde Cheshire Cheese, city of london - could not find i suspect this is a relatively new name!
olde cock tavern, 22 fleet street - not sure this is the same one,  Dickinson Wm Geroge Cock Tavern P.H (public House) 125 High Street Knights(bridge?) NW (Blackfriars is EC)
punch tavern, 99 fleet street - Baker & Co? it is amongst a list of pubs  / hotels 7 restuarants under Baker & Co. 


Holman & Vinton- Cornwall, Wojciechowskyj & Hussak- Bukowiec & Zahutyn, Bentley & Richards- Leicester, Taylor-Kent/Sussex  Punnett-Sussex,  Bear/e- Monkleigh Gazey-Warwicks

There is a William Henry Taylor born 1861 in Blackfriars who was a  son of Horace George Taylor who was a publican.   This is in the 1871 census.   Hope this helps.

Sorry.   The Pub was the Bulls Head and the area was Whitechapel.

Thanks for that seems a possible looked this up wonder what it was called!! The lady reli was born in 1923 and rem going so maybe william took over the Jane seems to ring a bell

i dont know if this is any connection & will be asking for help myself

my grandfather was william george taylor born 1904 died 1985 in ponty pool monmouthshire

this is where it gets confussing

the family was always told he ran away from london as he didnt want to join the war

he ran away to pontypool in monmouthsire ( now gwent ) & met my grandmother lilian maud berryman but for somereason they got married in hackney in london 1928

the address they were staying is victoria park road

witnesses were james lord ...maurice coburn & phobe francis harring ton

so with the information i had from the marriage certificate i wwent to oder my grandfather birth cert & the gro couldnt find it

death cert says he was born southampton & they couldnt find it


father names for my grandfather william george taylor is william george taylor


evans pontypool
davies pontypool
cox pontypool
gullis pontypool / wiltshire
powell glostershire
