Ok, since we're looking at a common name,
WHEN was this william a publican?

1881/1882 (location)/ when his son was born or
closer to 1901 when his son married (southwark)?

do you have either a birth address or a married from address for 1882 william?

Ok, so this publican thing may be a red herring.
It's going to be 1930 (or a little earlier)?

have you william (the 1901 groom) in 1901 census?,
(he MAY  be in christ church, b Southwark aged 21y) Piece 359.

What's the father's occupation on this 1901 marriage certificate?
