Chris,

This may be a duplicate - as there was another message coming in.

But can you provide some additional info on the how the contents are arranged.  E.g.You mentioned an index.  Does it include the names of both husband and wife?  Is there a grouping by parish, as well.?

Also, can you explain Surieties?  I've not come across the word before.

Thanks for all the info you enter on the Roots Chat.  I read every thread that has your name on it!!! ;D

I've also had a look at this and used the book option.  Found a few Verall's which are further back from my bunch, but I may eventually find the link.  Haven't looked through it all, so still searching for my Cornwell's. :)

There are two other volumes there as well on the same subject as well as quite a few other books relating to Sussex.

Just type sussex in the search box at the top of the page.

Hi Jann

Earlier you wrote:

Yes, there is a surname index as well as a location index - but couples are indexed apart, not as a couple - therefore you would have to search for the groom and cross reference it with a search for the bride.

Also, can you explain Surieties?  I've not come across the word before.

A surety is money given as a guarantee and/or a person taking responsibilityfor anothers debts, obligations, etc.

Thanks for all the info you enter on the Roots Chat.  I read every thread that has your name on it!!!

As one of the founder members of rootschat (before it reached 1000 members) I really enjoy helping people with their research and always try to post relevant material rather than just the chit chat that so many post.  I am flattered that you read all the posts with my name on; I must be doing something right.

I'm glad I read the additional posts before I started a download.

The flip book option and search mechanism make it very easy to pinpoint people.  I needed a magnifying glass, but it  definitely serves my purposes.
