There is a Frederick Treves living at 6 Wimpole Street, Marylebone London in 1891:

aged 38 consultant surgeon   born Dorchester Dorset

Anne Elizabeth Treves wife  age 36  Dorchester
Enid Margery   Treves daughter 13   Sydenham Kent
Hetty Marion Treves   daughter  9    London

plus three servants

Perhaps your next stage is to send off for your Frederick Treves' birth certificate and try to link him up to this family.

Best wishes

freebmd.rootsweb.com shows:
Frederick George Treves born Sep quarter 1883 Greenwich district
Frederick George Treves married Dec quarter 1902 St. Olaves (to Elizabeth Badley or Nellie Parker)
Frederick George Treves born Mar 1904 quarter St. Olaves
(Also, Ethel Annie Treves was born Mar 1902 quarter St. Olaves)

So I would guess that the Deptford family in 1901 is the right one, but do update us once you get the birth certificate.
Census information is Crown Copyright, from www.nationalarchives.gov.uk

My hunch is the 1901 census entry is your Treves, particularly with the Bermondsey connection.
19 is not too young to be married, especially in the early 1900s  ;)

Let us know if you want us to search further back for you.  :)

thank you amanda for that info. i've sent for fredericks birth cert . i wasnt being flippant about the other frederick getting married at 19 was just saying that if its him then that was the age he married sorry. it looks very much that this is the family trail. its for my mother in law as frederick was her father and killed in ww2 when she was 2yrs old and never knew him. also because she believes she is related to the surgeon  sir frederick treves(you mentioned him before) and it would be nice for her to have some info on her ancestors.  i would be grateful for any more info you find out. thank you

Hi Again Dolly

I have found the "Bermondsey Treves Family" in 1881: 17 Maynard Road Rotherhiithe

George Treves  Head  60  widow   carman   Dorset Bradford Perverel?
Jane E               daughter   26      housekeeper   Middlesex  Westminster
Charles H               son           23      carman                "               "
 Frederick L            son         20      rice dresser            "               "
plus border

RG11 577 50 38

In 1871 this family were living at 3 Bond Street Lambeth:
George Treves (as above) age 54
Mary Ann   Treves     wife  54                    St Andrews Holborn
William F                 son 22    baker         Marylebone Middlesex
Rianna                    daughter  18                 Pimlico        "
Jane (as above)
Richard                    son  14    millers boy     Westminster Middlesex
Charles (as above)
Frederick (as above)

Lewis John Andrews  brother-in-law  55 Pensioner 13th dragoons  St Lukes City Rd (London)
Lewis G Andrews son of     "           22    butler                                 Longford Ireland

RG10 671 93 11

This gives us Frederick's mother's maiden name of Andrews which open up another line of research....let me know if you would like me to continue to follow up that line.

Best wishes

Hi Dolly
I'm getting addicted to this family line, I have them in 1861 at 21 Bowling Street, St Johns Westminster.

George Treves (as before) age 40
Mary Ann (as before)
William (as before)
Emma   daughter   8   Pimlico Middlesex (this could have been "Rianna" in 1871 as its unclear)
Jane (as before) age 6
Elizabeth                   6 twin
Richard (as before)
Charles (as before)
Frederick(as before, listed as three weeks old)

plus two lodgers.

RG9 48 19 31

the census states Jane and Elizabeth were twins but it looks as though Elizabeth died before the 1871 census. Might be worth looking up her death index in freebmd.

Best wishes
