ESRO - check on transcription
« on: Wednesday 17 October 07 10:31 BST (UK) »

Could some kind soul check a baptism for me please?

I know time is precious when you're at the records office but I would be eternally grateful.

I have only seen the transcript and am clutching at straws with this one.

Heathfield All Saints - 4th February 1787 - Hannah Nailer - parents Edward and Susanna

Everything fits except wrong father...I can't find an Edward Nailor (with variations) married to a Susanna on SMI. so am really hoping for a miracle with this one.

In case it helps the previous entry is Susanna Drawbridge dau of Thomas and Elizabeth
and the following entry is Stephen Shingleton son of Thomas and Jane.
My SMI disk has decided to give up the ghost so I could'nt check that these two couples were in fact correct.

Thanks in advance
Suey

Hi Suey,
I've just made a suggestion to Kizmiaz aka Glen on this thread http://www.rootschat.com/forum/index.php/topic,262107.0.html about asking for a look-up at the ESRO (poor lady, I'm working her to death)

Hi Jane, many thanks for reply, sorry it's late I had problems getting back into RC yesterday...withdrawal symptoms can be damaging to health ;D

I had forgotten about RAoGK, I'll give it a try.

Not sure if this is related and afraid it doesn't help find you baptism date, but it may help with my tree.

I have a Thomas Drawbridge born in 1753 and married to Elizabeth Boorman (born 1951) living around Cranbrook, which isn't a million miles from Heathfield
I know they had at least 12 children, but I don't have a Susannah listed.
Do you think this could be the same family?

Hello drawbridgep - Welcome to Rootschat and especially the Sussex Boards  :D

I've just bought a new Sussex Marriage Index disc and can't see a marriage in Heathfield or anywhere close for a Thomas Drawbridge to an Elizabeth...so if yours were married outside Sussex then it's possible that this Susanna is yours.

My problem is there is no Edward Drawbridge marriage so that entry for an Edward Nailer could be correct although I can't find a marriage for him either which is why I wanted that transcription checked.
Although a Thomas Shingleton did marry a Jane.

Don't know if that makes any sense  ???  If you need any help with your research Rootschat is the place to ask :D
