Benjamin and Zillah ROSSITER of Victoria

Can anyone please help me with information about Benjamin ROSSITER who settled in Cranbourne Shire, and his wife Zillah, and their four children: Charles (1820), Mercy (1822), Ann (1825) and Thomas (1832)?


I believe that Benjamin died in 1858, but would be interested to know when his wife Zillah died.

I also understand that Mercy Rossiter married Hery Wedge, but a date would be helpful if someone can oblige.

I can't find this family in passenger lists, so it would be helpful to locate when they actually emigrated from England.

Any help gratefully received.

Zillah is presumably the sister of Your Thomas Baynton
Died 1871 age 82 ref 8188 Father Thomas Baynton Mother Sarah Wrentmore
I am using the AVRI and it gives Birthplace as Kilm (which I would have thought is Kilmore Vic - but I assume she was born in England - thus it may be the deathplace, incorrectly transcribed

Forgive me - I went looking for a death for Thomas Rossiter, instead of Benjamin      - I have become fixed on the name Thomas (It belongs to many many of my family members)

I will get the correct information. I realised this was wrong when I found the following death

Chas Rossiter Father Benj Mother Zilliah BAMTON (sic) age 74 Place Cranbourne 1895 Ref 1321

This is Benjamins death record

Benjamin Rossiter died 1858 ref 1345 Father James Mother Anne U (Unknown) Birthplace England

Zilliah was probably the informant, so his death certificate should give number of years in Victoria/Australia, so this would help to find the immigration

Edit: I have found an Emily Baguton (sic) Rossiter parents Chas and Ellen Theresa O'Shea - so I would think that is the marriage for your Charles.

It's actually my fault. I originally posted the inquiry with the wrong name in the Subject line. I was confused between Thomas BAYNTON and Thomas ROSSITER, so it was me that caused the problem!!

I don't find a death for Mary - but no more children either. There are a number of children for Thomas Rossiter and Ellen Dalgleish. I don't see a death for Thomas either - maybe they moved states - you could try NSW (or I need to look post 1901)
