Hello Sandra
I'm looking for my McQuarrie family connections between Glasgow and Auchtergaven Perthshire.  Have some information but am not able to find out why they moved between glasgow and Perthshire.  All the McQuarrie's mentioned on search sites seem to come from every where else but Glasgow & Perthshire!!!! I think there is something odd in that and would really like to know.  The futherest connection I have is an Archibald McQuarrie (about 1821 but hey this could also be wrong!!!!!) with and Ann Keiller, but even she doesn't seem to appear anywhere!!!!
Anyway at our house we all love the Paul O'Grady show especially the dogs, we have had rescue dogs in the past and they are the best!!!!!
good luck

Hi Sandra -  if the offer is still on,  I have a few brickwalls in Scotland as well.

Once of my ancestors actually wrote a genealogy history on the family, as well as a few other books, but dates etc don't match, and in the book Lady Flora Forbes before her marriage, was lady in waiting to Bonnie Prince Charlies mother.

Also in the book it states she was thrown out of her house by the Butcher of Culloden, and the house given to another branch of the family because they  supported the English.

Also Thanistone, which is now a hotel was once the home of the Mitchell family, which was burnt down and rebuilt.

To date I have been unable to find any information on Flora Forbes.

The author's gt granddaughter, has researched the book, along with a few other branches, who have added their own notes, on records still to be searched

Hi OLGA

you might be interested in reading this thread

http://www.rootschat.com/forum/index.php/topic,270941.0.html

I've had the most wonderful help from all rootschatters on this and managed to get my paternal grandmothers family from Edinburgh in the 1940's back to 1830's in Forfar, where they are carpenters.

I had decided to concentrate on my London/Bristol and come bak to these later when I have a little more experience, but if anyone wants to give me a hand, then great! Can't say I watch Paul O'Grady but I certainly have no objection to him, or anybody, helping..........

Colston - Lewisham and Hackney, London
Milne - Edinburgh and Forfar
Barron - Edinburgh
Guthrie - Forfar?
Lawrence - Hungerford/Lambourn
Stroude - Berkshire
Bothick - It's a mystery yet to be solved...........

Has anyone had any response from this thread?

I think there is a danger that it will drag on with no tangible results for RootsChatters posting their queries, so I am going to lock it.

I ask that anyone wishing to contact Sandra does so by Personal Message - or perhaps Sandra could let me know if she would like it unlocked in order to reply?

If you have queries that you would like RootsChatters to help with, please post them on the relevant board in the usual way.

Many thanks.

kind regards, Arranroots  ;)
