I don't watch those sort of programmes, I think they are too contrived. and as well as that I don't like the presenter and would not wish to have anything to do with it.

People are entitled to have their own viewpoints on this forum and just because you don't agree with others doesn't mean they are in the wrong.

One of my ancestors who has exactly the same names as me, along with 5 others from Dumfries, acting under the orders of a Phrenologist from Edinburgh named Coombe, entered the Burns Mausolium, dug up Robert Burns, severed the head from the body and took it to his house in Queensberry St where a plastercast was made.

This act took place in 1834 and caused outrage at the time, although little is spoken about it now. The plastercast is still kicking around in Irvine, and in my opinion so is Roberts head.

Another program perhaps for the rest of the story. (think Dan Brown)

Just to let everyone know, that Sandra gave me a telephone contact on Friday. I was able to chat with her today to establish that this post is genuine.

Sandra,
I have been trying to find details of my wife's paternal Grandfather.
My wife's mother was the illegitmate daughter of Margaret Ballantyne and a John Kinnear.
The only information we have is a correction on the back of her birth certificate confirming the paternity and that at the time (1905) Kinnear lived in Pilmuir, Newton Mearns and that he was a Miller

I started researching only last Friday (26th)

I started with my Great granddad on my mum's side, as he has an unusual name - Thrift Watt.

He was a saddler in Stonehaven, and was married twice. His first wife died.

I've already turned up someone who is a 3rd Cousin in Washington, USA, and another relative who was killed at Gallopoli.

I haven't started on my dad's side yet!

Then I have to look at my Wife's side . . .

We watch Paul O'Grady most days, and personally I think he's great, but I'm sure others may differ.
