Thomas Clevely Walters and Martha WALTERS (nee RAPPS)
« on: Friday 12 October 07 19:47 BST (UK) »
My great grandparents Thomas Clevely Walters and his wife Martha (nee Rapps) both died in High Littleton in December 1924 and March 1927 respectively. They were minor local "celebrities" in their way, having run a shop in the village during the early 1910's, no mean feat considering that Martha was blind.

I suspect therefore that their deaths might have been worthy of a mention in any local paper that might have operated in the area at that time, and I was wondering if anyone might have an idea of which paper that might be, and where old copies might be viewed.

Thanks
Devon - Day (Appledore), Vyvyan + Hill (Plymouth)
Somerset - Yard (Ashcott etc) Walters (High Littleton)
Worcestershire etc - Caldicott (Alcester + Inkberrow)
Scotland - McShiells/Shields/McIntyre (Dalry)
Most of these ended up in Cardiff during 19thC

Hi

Hmmm.... I suppose that the two most likely are the Bath Chronicle and the Somerset County Gazette.

Here's a link to papers in the south  http://www.wrx.zen.co.uk/soupress.htm

You could always try the Somerset RO they'd have more idea of what was circulating in those days.

Good luck
