help needed getting started..

Please can anyone help with getting started. 
All i have is that of My Mother Birth Cert and Address..
And Names and address  where Gill lived when she was about 6.

If you could post all the details you have to-date, I,m sure we can steer you in the right direction.

Remember every detail is important.

If you have your Mothers birth certificate then you have her DOB
Her parents names & where she was born ADDRESS etc  also fathers Occupation

If you post all that you know then we can try to help

hello Q,

Your mother's birth cert will give you her father's name and mother's maiden name and address/area where she was born

From her parents names it may be possible to find their marriage

Then purchase of their (your grandparents) marriage certificate (certificates are a good investment early on in your research - saves going down an incorrect line) should give you their ages(sometimes approx) their father's names and occupations -sometimes witnesses are members of the family too -which gives further clues!!!
