Deb

I might send a PM to my mate Paul about the Ruabon death - he might be able to check the parish register! It could save a certificate purchase  :)

Deb & Gadget.

Does this site award medals? If so, you two will definitely receive my nomination for your assistance above and beyond what ever could be expected.

The information about Nicholas being in America came from the 1881 British Census (The Mormon Disk set). there are two possibilities on the 1880 American census (On Familysearch.org)

in 1891 Nicholas & Ann are with their daughter Sarah J. in Lasswade. The 1891 & 1881 census states she is English however the information you have found on the 1871 census must mean this is the same family.

Of their siblings, William & Mary Ann made it from Cornwall to Scotland. Sarah (1861) does not appear to have made it to 1871, another Sarah J. (1870) has been born, either in England or Wales and survived as far as the 1891 census. Finally Susan was born in 1873 but died in 1878.

Bessy (1863) in new to me.

I will try and delve a bit further. I presume the information you have available is through subscription sites?, if so what is the best one to look at. In Scotland the information is all available through the government assisted site Scotlandspeople .gov.uk

Again thanks for the assists, any further pointers would be most welcome.

Hi Bry  :)

Happy to help out.

The Welsh info initially  came from the North Wales BMD site which i like to promote (all done by volunteers who know the area - I did some of the transcriptions). It can be accessed via:

http://www.northwalesbmd.org.uk/bmd_welcome.html

I have PMed a friend and member of rootschat to check out the birth of Sarah Jane and the death of the other Sarah in the Ruabon/Wrexham area.

Interested in this thread because I grew up in the Wrexham area and lived in Plymouth for 20 years and then moved to Scotland, so your family are a bit like me!

Oh, I did live in Canada for a while and have ancestors there and in the States  ;D

Hi Gadget ...you world-wide traveller you  ;D
Hi Bry ...glad to help , actually love to help  :D

Bessy Stephens b 1863 ...is proving to be elusive. She is born in St Agnes 1863, moves to Wales and is 8 in 1871... cannot find her again...she may have  married but I can't see it. I am looking for her as BessY...as opposed to BessIE (not that I am ruling bessIE out) , but they seem to have stuck with the "Y" as in her birth reg and when found in 1871, Wales.

Bry ... Do you want the other Stephens Family b St Agnes who are living in Wales.?..also are you interested in following your Barkla/e people back and forward ...let us know...hee hee then we have to follow the TONKINS ooo and don't forget the Webbs ...LOL  :o ;D

I looked for the burial 1869 and the baptism 1870 in Wrexham, Ruabon, Bersham, Minera, Rhosymedre and Gresford. Couldn't see a Sarah or Sarah Jane Stephens (Stevens).

If you give Gadget time to think about it I'm sure I'll soon be looking somewhere else ;D
