This link could run,and run, so I don't expect anyone will mind if I 'jump on the bandwagon' too. I cannot get anywhere with my 'one and only' link to the 'Barry's and I hope that someone reading this will be able to help. My Grandparents, Mary Angela Barnes, and Edward Maurice O'Neill, were married at St. Mary's Parish Church,  Passage West, Cork, in 1915. Mary's parents were named as: James Barnes, and Margaret Barry. The only other details I have about my Great Grandparents is what I saw written down in the marriage register, at St. Mary's. James stated that he was a blacksmith, and gave their address as 'Cork'. I take that as Cork City?
I have no idea if James and Margaret were married; I have been unable to find a marriage record, and also, I cannot find a birth certificate for Mary Angela Barnes, my Grandmother. I cannot find this family on the 1901, or the 1911 census of Ireland either. They are a complete mystery.

Can anyone help with my enquiry please?

Hello Andrew, I have posted you a private message with information regarding your search.
You will see that you missed two generations, which I have covered in private.
I will keep in touch,
Slán go fóill,
BarradeR.

My grandmother was a Barry, descended from Michael Barry, born around 1830 in *Ireland* but believed to be Cork. He married Ellen Cummins before the family moved to Cardiff in the early 1860s.

Tonight, I've discovered a possible link to the Svombos / Swombos in Cardiff hence my interest in this topic.

Michael Barry's son James had 13 children, 6 died as babies including Maurice in 1896, whose death was registered by A Swambo, aunt. It would appear that she was Ann Buckley who married Matthew Swambo, son of Nicholas and Ellen Swambo nee Barry. Still trying to prove this but looks interesting.
