Brick Wall re FARNDELL
« on: Monday 22 March 04 00:17 GMT (UK) »
Hello, very glad to have stumbled across RootsChat - looks very promising.
I am having difficulty finding any trace of my FARNDELL family in Kent/East Sussex.  3X great grandmother Ann Farndell was born at Robertsbridge circa 1804, and married John Breeds at Ewhurst in 1820.  They settled at Tenterden following the marriage.   Ann was witness to the marriage of Robert FARNDELL in Tenterden, but I can find no further trace of him either.  :(

Hello Kazza,
Thanks for inquiring about my Farndell puzzle. I have not had any luck yet, but haven't given up hoping.

Let's all get our thinking caps on.  8)

Have you posted in the Requests Forum for a lookup on the BIVRI for these elusive people?

Hi Kazza and Chris,

Thanks Kazza for the suggestion re BIVRI - hadn't thought of that.

Thanks Chris for looking that up for me - the results do not surprise me.
The parish records for Robertsbridge do not cover the right time frame so I have looked at an LDS film for Salehurst and found not a single mention of Farndell.

Many thanks for the John Breeds marriage info.
I do have their marriage record from the IGI - and someone else has checked the LDS film and verified the information. John Breeds + Ann Farndell at Ewhurst in 1820. Spelling of her name was also verified.

Have also checked with researchers from Chichester and places in Hampshire where there is a heavy concentration of this name. Have viewed a film from LDS for one of the Chichester churches - plenty of Farndells there but not mine.

I wonder if the National Burial Index would reveal any Farndells in either the area around Robertsbridge, Sussex or possibly Tenterden, Kent.
As mentioned previously there was a marriage for a Robert Farndell and a death at Tenterden for a Patience Farndell.

Thanks again for the help - must keep thinking....

Hi,

Yes we have a lookup offer for the National Burial Index v1,  post a lookup request on the lookup request board,  and keep your fingers,  toes,  eyes,  whatever,  crossed.  :D

Good Luck,

Kazza.

Hi to you both

First of all - The NBI first edition did not contain any burials from Sussex.

Entered the name Farndell for Kent - Zilch

Entered the name Farndell for anywhere - 5 matches, but mostly in Suffolk.

Sorry, will have to wait till the second edition comes out in August
