1851 Request in Blandford, Dorset

looking for

Lydia DYKE she would be about 4 or 5 yrs old.

in 1861 she is found on Salisbury Street with parents James Dyke and Jane.

Found your Lydia Dyke on 1871 Census, I can mail you image if you do not already have this info.  No luck on the 1851 census.

The 1861 census is on the dorset OPC site http://www.dorset-opc.com

there are also baptisms for John, Susan, Francis, George, Lucy, and Charlotte, all children of James and Jane DYKE, father painter, but not of Lydia !

there were 36 Hits with "lydia dYKE blandford" but I didn't check all of them, maybe there is more about her on there somewhere !

ps: in the search, I entered DYKE in small letters, but RootsChat software says "dyke" if I type lowercase !

Hi Bob,

The Dorset OPC site looks like it could be very good, nothing for me to search yet, I am looking for Wedmore & Mark.  Howeverl, I searched for the 1861 Census and could not find a link for this.  Can you direct me, or is this only relevant to the areas they have transcribed.

Hi Amanda,

The Dorset OPC site is "parish based". They don't have complete census transcriptions, but some of the Parish Clerks will have transcribed different censuses for "their" parishes.  if you enter your search words in the search engine, it will come up with any hits, including, if applicable, entries for censuses

If you are looking at all data from a parish, rather than particular people, scroll down on the first page, and see what data has been transcribed for the parish(es)  you are interested in.

I entered wedmore in the search engine and got 5 hits, including the 1861 census for Blandford with these WEDMOREs:

Jane                             Hinton St Mary  age 27
Lydia                            Blandford  age 5
