Lookup Request for William LANSLEY / LANCELEY

I would be grateful if anyone could check the Ludgershall WILTS Parish Records to see if a William LANCELEY / LANSLEY's birth is recorded around c 1778.

The 1841 Census HO 107/1165/10 lists him as a 63 year old bricklayer in Castle Street, Ludgershall with 3 of his sons.

Unfortunately I don't think that is him. I did get the details of this Wm and his parentage when I analysed the PR some years ago.

The William I am interested in / descended from was born c 1778 based on him being 63 yo on the 1841 census. He was married in 1801 in Ludgershall according to the PR. I was hoping I might have "missed him c 1778" when I looked at the PR.

Looks like he may have been born outside Ludgershall

Sorry that was not the correct William.   The 1841 census is notoriously inaccurate on ages and he does not appear on the 1851 - looks like he died late 1844.   Pity the 1841 didn't give his age as 65 then a birth in 1774 would have been admissible.

Yes have seen the OND 1844 Andover 7 29 death (not in Ludgershall PR)

Another William Lansley's death at JFM 1849 Andover 7 39 corresponds nicely with a William dying aged 76 on 30th Jan 1849 in the PR. Suggesting a birth around 1777 / 8. Must get the death certificate with my Xmas money
