How to find a grave of ancestor
« Reply #10 on: Sunday 04 May 08 23:01 BST (UK) »
Sadly, some years ago, most if not all of the Co-op's funeral records were destroyed due to lack of space...... Not just in Paisley, I hasten to add, but most areas.  Company policy.

I did find info at another undertakers in Paisley, Goudie's in Maxwellton Street.

Both company's were very helpful, as was the person at the crematorium.

Good luck

Just a note, Goudie's are no longer independent but also owned by the Co-op so may have had a clear out too.

Is there some sort of database that holds all burial locations within the UK?

Swansea - Thomas, Williams, Howell, David, Rees, Griffiths, Jenkins, Bevan
Rutland - Hales
Derbyshire - Harlow, Riley, Pemberton, Aldred
Yorkshire - Stamper, Boyes, Duke

The National Burial Index (available on CD fraid) cover England and Wales but not Scotland. Scottish death records 1855 onwards are on Scotland;s People.

Good question! Don;t know but you'll find most things here saying they are national don't include Scotland. Find my past being a good example

No cos Scotland has it;s own Government site so we are sorted. And it provides online copies of the BMDs and OPRs rather than having to send off for them.

Personally I think we get a better deal cos no waiting to ambush the postman and it's cheaper for the certs too
