John Smith 1861 census please.
« on: Sunday 23 September 07 13:33 BST (UK) »
Hi, I know it sounds like a needle in a haystack but I have two address's from a 1862 marriage cert in the parish of St Giles in the Fields. The first is John Smith, 19 West St, occupation looks like it could be Carman. The second is Ellen Wise, 7 Montague Square, no occupation but she could be a servant.
I have been unable to find either through their name or address. I think I have found Ellen's parents (father is called William) but no sign of these two. Any help would be most appreciated. Bryan.

Hi Jane,
Yes, I do have approximate ages, they are both about 22 according to later census's but the marriage cert says both 25. It is them that I am looking for in the 1861 census but I thought if I could find either of the address's it would lead to them.
Regards, Bryan.

Hi again Bryan

Do you have any more info on John/William or father William or even the sister and mother Ellen.

Smith, as you will know is not the easiest name to search so the tiniest scrap of info could make it much easier  ;)

Thanks
