Liverpool Industrial School (Everton)

After watching "who do you think you are" last night I'm intrigued to find out some more as I thought these places were just to teach boys some "Industrial" skills-  I never checked up on this after finding a 1881 entry of an ancestor in there. Any more information available on this place? (all boys there, address was 19Everton Terrace)

What a coincidence - I was looking for this school yesterday. The closest I could find is this:

Yeah I was really disappointed after googling on what I found. What's your boy's name?

Hi Rosedale - I'm looking for James Bird age 15 on the 1881 census, inmate at the school.

St Georges Boys Roman Catholic Industrial School - at 137a West Derby Rd.
St Georges Certified Boys Roman Catholic Industrial School 29 Everton Terrace.
   Lancashire    1871 1891 1861 - though no extra information available.

Thinking perhaps it's not 19 after all. Also looked for the Governor of the school of the time (William Barclay) but couldn't find much to do with Everton School.

Thanks for the link also Victoria. No Everton Terrace there though. It's like it never existed or something-  I was expecting to find lots of information.

I just wanted to find out why boys were sent to this particular school - The family wasn't so bad at the time and only he got sent off. Poor boy. Thanks for the link of young immigrants- 28!

Google searches show everyone else is searching for the school at 19 Everton Tce too.
I'm just trying to eliminate someone from my enquiries, (not tracing a definite direct ancestor) but curious about this school too.
