Having trouble finding Thomas GADD born about 1817, on any census.  Checked the FreeBMD, and there were a couple of deaths that could be him.

Here is what I can find on Mark's brother John :-

1861 Census England Staffordshire Wombourne
RG9/1986/13/21
Towns End

GADD
John Head Marr 41 Horse Nail Maker Worcester Oldswinford
Mary Wife Marr 33 Nail Forger Stafford Wombourne
William JONES Nephew Unmarr 11 Nail Forger Stafford Wombourne

1871 Census England Staffordshire Wombourne
RG10/2929/12/18
Towns End

GADD
John Head Marr 52 Nail Maker Worcester Oldswinford
Mary Wife Marr 43 Stafford Wombourne
William JONES Nephew Unmarr 21 Gardener Stafford Wombourne

1881 Census England Staffordshire Wombourne
RG11/2791/12/17
Towns End

GADD
John Head Marr 60 Nail Maker Oldswinford Worcester
Mary Wife Marr 52  Wombourne Stafford

Looks like John and Mary had no children that survived.

Can't find John in 1851 yet.

Hi Karenlee,
i think you have it the nail, on the head so to speak, it seem that Rose Esther Sarah and Abigail some how ended up in the workhouse Stourbridge Kingswinford, but from your look ups seem to have worked there way out from there to be Confectioner shopkeepers, how i not yet sure but its, so interesting to have some sort of insight as to how they lived back then and gives me a path to follow, which might bring me to how my father came to wolverhampton, i know that my grandfather was John Edawrd Gadd, about 1895, born Sedgley Staffordshire,? i also have found his may have been, Heber/Eber, 1851whom married a woman i think was a Brittle, i have printed out your look up so far, and appreicate the help so much, i will now try and put all this info in to some sort of order to help form my tree, any more info is most welcome again thank you so much,

Hi Karenlee could i be so bold and ask if you have time to try and trace Heber Gadd 1851 and his children, from then till 1901, as this is the main trunk of my tree, i hope you dont think of me as being to cheeky, i have taken a look on ancestry free1881 census but am not very good at it, any marriage or death, plus birth, vol, or pages would all so be of great help so i can send for the certs, for them , i have be told this is a good way of finding out more about your family tree, many thanks,

Happy to have been able to provide the information for you.

Must say that certificates are an essential piece of the puzzle, as they, unlike census entries, don't lie.  They are the proof that you need to show you are on the right track, so to speak.

Will be happy to look for Herber??or Herbert and trace him for you, both for BMD and census.  I may not get to it until later on today though.

Many thanks for the kind offer Steve.  I will keep it in mind.

I will have a look tonight for Heber's children and see what turns up.   There may be some reference to some of the GADD family on the National Archives site.... wills, military service, etc.

If you want any more on the children of Mark GADD's siblings just let me know.

Happy to have been able to help.

Cheers

Hi Steve

Just to digress slightly away from the GADD line, I think that this may be Florence E M COLLEY.

Birth COLLEY Florence Ethel M June Quarter 1899  Wolverhampton 6b 618

Of Eber and Mary Ann's children I have been able to find the following possibles  :-

Marriage

GADD Levi September Quarter 1910 Wolverhampton 6b 1043 to either Mary A HICKMAN or Martha E SLATER

GADD Alice September Quarter 1909 Dudley 6c 145 maybe to Arthur Thomas WILCOX

GADD Frederick March Quarter 1904 Dudley 6c 24 to either Fanny HANDLEY or Bertha JACKSON

Death

GADD Violet December Quarter 1892 Dudley 6c 41 aged 3 years

1901 Census England Staffordshire Wolverhampton
RG13/2674/106/3
189 Lea Road

In the household of Mary A GILES

GADD Lucy Servant Unmarr 25 General Domestic Servant Sedgley Staff

Cannot find Elizabeth GADD as yet on the 1901 Census.

I will check the Archives site.
