Margaret Hamilton

I am looking for the parents of Margaret (Maggie) Hamilton born 11th Sept 1884 North Motherwell Colliery, her parents are given as Hugh Hamilton & Jane Jackson.  Hugh was born around 1850's Armadale West Lothian.  Jane was supposed to have been born around 1850 in England according to 1891 & 1901 Census. 
I know that Hugh's parents were William Hamilton & Christina Morris, I have found children of a William Hamilton & Christina Morris but they were born at Bathgate between 1869 - 1873 but no Hugh Hamilton.   A William Hamilton & Christina Morris were married 17 Jul 1868 Bathgate.  But I dont know if this is my couple, can anyone help me?

Hi Polly,  Check the ages on Margaret and Robert's marriage cert.
This will give you an idea of what years you should be looking at for births.   If they were both born in Scotland, then, you should be able to find their births.  You might find it easier to search for the parents marriage cert.  as you can search by putting in both surnames of the parents.  You can search for  above on the 'scotlandspeople' site
