Jean/Jane Edgar death in Cathcart 1841-1851

Morning,
Does anyone have the parish records , please , for Cathcart ? Am trying to locate the death/burial of Jean / Jane Edgar ....she was on the 1841 census but had died before 1851..

Would really appreciate any info..

Can't help with the parish records but will take a look in Old Cathcart Parish Churchyard when i pass it next. Probably next week.

Unlikely to be the old parish church graveyard, which is petering out about then, and of course terribly vandalised.  The thing with Cathcart is to check neighbouring cemeteries as well in Giffnock, Pollock, Kings Park etc.

As longshanks suspected, there was nothing for Edgar there.

There was vandalism but not as bad as expected.

Hi Joyce

It is worth contacting the Mitchell library in Glasgow as they have burial indexes or also the National Archives Scotland inEdinburgh who have some mortcloth records - the mortcloth was hired from the church to drape over coffin for the funeral.

As there was no requirement for deaths to be registered pre 1855 these would be only source of records.
