It is worth contacting the Mitchell library in Glasgow as they have burial indexes or also the National Archives Scotland inEdinburgh who have some mortcloth records - the mortcloth was hired from the church to drape over coffin for the funeral.
As there was no requirement for deaths to be registered pre 1855 these would be only source of records.
