Hello people,
I was born in the Coombe Hospital (orignal one) on the Coombe and lived in Coombe Street in the 1950's
I attended Meath Street school until 1961
anybody lived around there at that time

I  LIVED IN NEWMARKET  AND LIVED THERE FUO 40 YEARS NEWMARKET ISACROSS THE RD FROM COOMBE ST  EVERY DAY I WALKED TEOUGH COOMBE ST  IT WAS FULL OF TENMENT HOUSES  I WILL GIVE ANY HELP I CAN

Nice to read about places I  remember -  (vague recollections)  I left Dolphin's Barn when I was 5.
Parents had a cake shop at number 41.   What is it now - if it is still there?   We lived above the shop and my sister took me to the Rialto cinema on Saturdays.   The good old days.

I have an old postcard that was on the remains of an ancestor Patrick James O'Brien (Royal Lancers while in India). The postcard is from "Mother" with the return address of 39 Coombe Street Dublin.  The date is February 24, 1909. On the front of the card is United by our love for Erin. 
I am trying to find her name!  I believe Patrick James O'Brien's father's name is James O'Brien per a marriage certificate in England (Father is listed as deceased). 
Any advise or information??

Do you know what year Patrick James O'Brien was born in ?

Was it in Dublin ?

Well, according to his death certificate age and his marriage certificate age, he should have been born
in 1884.  According to Ireland's Memorial Records, he was born in Dublin.  According to the death certificate the place of birth is England (mistake?).  I think it is probably Ireland and not England per passed down family information.

I can't see anything obvious, as it's such a common surname, it will will be tricky too !

Where was Patrick in 1901, did you find him on the Irish or British census ?

Was there no next of kin on his military records ? Sometimes military records give parish of birth too !

Did the marriage cert give an occupation for his father - this can sometimes give some leads !
