Hi Louise,
Joseph and Jean were my Gr Gr Gr Grandparents (assuming my family history information is correct).
I don't know of anyone who has found the parents of Joseph Wagstaff or Jean Brown. There was a rumor circulating on another thread (posted a few years ago) that Joseph immigrated from England with a brother, but I have never heard anything beyond that. I haven't come across any men in the records who would be a good candidate for a brother of Joseph.
I recently started a Wagstaff surname yDNA project. If there is ever a good number of participants, we may some day be able to determine how Joseph was linked to Wagstaffs in England.
By the way, if you haven't tried out the Great Britain Surname Profiler, its pretty facinating. Enter any surname and you can pull up maps of distribution in 1881 vs. 1998, and various statistics:
http://www.nationaltrustnames.org.uk/Back to Jean Brown, there could be something in the records for her siblings or parents. There were lots of Browns in the area. Maybe somebody else has come across something...
Regards,
Trish
