Help finding info on RICHARD MORRIS b1846, Schoolmaster Ystradyfodwg
« on: Tuesday 11 September 07 23:39 BST (UK) »
Hi all,
I have recently discovered that a brother to my ggggrandfather RICHARD MORRIS b 1846 Llangerniew migrated to South Wales with his family, I don't know when. He was a Schoolmaster for Llancynfelin School in 1876, how long I dont know. But on the 1901 census his wife Ann Maria and children are living in Gelly Road, Ystradyfodwg. Richard is visiting is daughter in London. He is reportedly a Schoolmaster and we are also lead to believe that he became an advisor to Lloyd George at somepoint.
I don't know where even to begin looking for this family but any help would be greatly appreciated.
Many thanks
Regards
Nerys

He gets a couple of mentions on this page.

What ( if any Census) do you need for Richard?

Cheers

I have replied on your other post - I have census for 71-01, if you require any of them

Birthplaces of children will give you some idea of where he was at various times

Hi Ambly,
Thanks for looking up so quick. The wetton link is actually my family. Lee, who has superbly put the site together is a relation of mine - my grandfather and his greatgrandfather were brothers.
We have no idea what became of Richard Morris who migrated to south Wales and it was the article in the Cambrian which interested me in trying to find hi. We know Richard was a minister, and I'm sure there were many Churches in Ystradyfodwg where he could have preached, but we don't know anything. It looks like I might not as there are many Richard Morris deaths etc for that area.

Yes, that's also me in Cardiganshire message. Richard Morris moved about a bit! But as I don't know anything about him thought I'd try my luck in both places - you never know!

Hello annwi,
Indeed my Richard Morris did have a daughter Rosina, she also had a middle name, I'll find it in a mo ...... of course it's Augusta Maud - how could I forget?
Richard and his wife Anne had 11 children in all:
William    ?
Richard Jemkins
Catherine Winifred Anne
John Osborne
Mary Elizabeth
Enoch James
James Morgan
Margaretta Jane
Rosina Augusta Maud
Ebenezer Robert
Ieuan Idwal

I have recently acquired Richard and Anne's marriage certificate, so if any of the other names ring any bells for you, Richard was a Schoolmaster and settled down in South Wales too, get back in touch. My Morris family from Denbighshire where Richard was originally from is quite extensive now as a few of us have managed to trace the family quite well. I'm excited to think that there is another relation to Richard out there. Please get back in touch, I am very interested to find Richard's family history. Though through this site I have done quite well as someone quickly found where Richard and Anne are buried and someone else took a photograph, so that was amazing.

Kind regards
Nerys

I am not sure if I have replied correctly. Yes Rosina Augusta Maude Clarke was my grandmother. I thought there were 13 children as I  have two names not on your list - Cadwaladr Hughes and Laura Anne but I do not have any dates of death. In  2 months time I want to visit some of the places my family lived in so any info about addresses would be great. Regards annwi
