Hi Ashe

Thanks for the clarification, 1821 fits in better with her baptism in worthing.

By the 1841 census was she married as she would have been 19 or 20 - if married, what was her married name

Will look for her tomorrow evening after work (Monday is the only day I have to go to work - makes it a 6 hour week)

G'day Chris
Just had a quick flick again - I have Julia as not marrying until 1849 so therefore she should be in the 1841 Census with her family - I hope.
Just a quick refresher father' s name was William Davis and Julia was born in Worthing.
Marriage Transcript arrived try 36 Upper Bedford Street, William was a fishmonger.
Bad luck on the work front - I had to work at the national elections today (Sunday) - was great fun I actually got paid to vote today.
Cheers
Ashe

Hi Ashe

I have just scrolled through the 120 pages of the 1841 census for Worthing and did not see one person with the surname Davis, let alone your family.

Will scroll through it again later today (first time front to back, second time back to front) to see if I can spot anyone

Sorry to be so negative

Hi Pam4mat

OK - when you have got your head around your research again - give us a shout

Will be happy to help you

Hi Chris,

I would really appreciate any infofmation you may come across on the 1841 or 1851 census for the following people.
I have some of them appearing on BMD certificates I have, and have managed to piece together some details from IGI and occasional visits to Lewes and Brighton record offices, but have not yet had the time to locate them on censuses.
I don't expect you to scan every page looking for them but if any come your way I would love to have my rather sketchy research confirmed!

John Boon, b. c1833, occupation in 1855 Painter, father George Boon, occupation probably Butcher, mother probably Jane, all should be living in Brighton and from Sussex.

Harriett Traveller, b. c1833, father Thomas, occupation Servant, mother probably Martha, again all in Brighton and hailing from Sussex.

William Granger/Grainger b. c1835, probably Lewes, father Henry, occupation Labourer, mother unknown, all should be living in Brighton.

Harriett Packham/Peckham, b. c1828, probably Brighton, Father Thomas, b. c1790, occupation probably Labourer, Ostler or Groom, mother Mary/May, b. c1799, all should be living together in Brighton in 1841 but Thomas may have been living apart from his family by 1851.

Sorry it's a bit of a shopping list but until I can get hold of the '41 and '51 censuses myself, lovely people like you are my only hope in my search for my Sussex roots, living as I do so far from the dear old County!

Anything I can do for you in return, please let me know.

Thanks and best wishes.......................Pam

Hi Pam

Unfortunately I do not have the 1851 census for Brighton, but there are a couple of people on here who do - so lets hope they read this message.

I do have the 1841 for Brighton, but there are some 340 pages to slowly scroll through - so its a long slow slog.

Looking in the 1851 census for Lewes we possibly have one from your list

GRAINGER William, Lodger, Unm, 13, General Labourer, born Lewes - living in Priory Street, Lewes with the Burfield Family.

Again, I have the 1841 census for Lewes, but its not indexed, so its again a long slow trawl through the returns.

Hi Chris
Somehow I missed your reply to my query re William Frederick Clark and his wife Elizabeth born Fairlight around 1773. I have been trying to trace her parentage with no success.  I know they had one son William Frederick Clark born in Bexhill 1811.I was trying to find any other siblings.William  Senior was a carpenter and in 1851 was in Dallington age 70 and Elizabeth 78. I wonder if they were in East Sussex in1841. Many thanks

Hi Ringrose

I have been through the 50 pages of the 1841 census for Dallington looking for your Clark(e) ancestors - but was unable to find one single person with the name Clark(e)

I did not reply to the Query concerning William & Frederick and their possible parents - because I had no information to give.

I believe this is a Parish Register job - a long slow haul I am afraid

Hi again Chris,

Sorry for any misunderstanding regarding the 1851 Brighton census, any help you can give is much appreciated.
The William Grainger you found is a possible for my 2xgreat grandfather, so annoying that he is a lodger rather than living with his family !!!
As I said previously, I don't want to put you any trouble and expect you to trawl through the entire censuses you have, any little bit of information would be wonderful.
Thank you for the prompt reply to my last message.
Happy hunting and many thanks........................Pam

Do you have any idea where this my be in Brighton - I got a feeling it is in the Kemptown ward - because there is no street or name index to help find it / them
