Hi Dee - they would be Daniel's siblings - I have another  :)

Hi Annette,

Did you get the parents names and ages from the marriage certificate?
or the names of parents and ages from their death index entries?

An 1871 marriage cert will give the occupations of both bride and groom and also their father's occupations.  This goes a huge way towards giving you a more complete picture.

There was a 32 year old Michael John CAHILL died at Carlton, 1884, his mum being Mary PRATT, but dad was down as David.  He appears to have married in 1878, and the entry shows that he was from Cork also.
death reg: 3881

Hi,
Denis CAHILL is buried at Fawkner.
He is with others not his family who were buried about the same time.

I thought I had found Daniel CAHILL's burial listed there too, but although it is the right name and the right year, the man is the wrong age for either father or son with an approx birth date of 1862.

Hi Christine,
Thank you for all the info you have given me.

I got the info regarding the marriage from John Cahill birth certificate. It has marriage on November 16th 1871 Melbourne Victoria. The John Cahill born 1886 was my Grandfather.

Daniel age 42yrs and Ellen Cahill formerly Lenehan 34yrs. It is what I am going on, and I was told by my late mother whoDaniels parents were and also Ellen's were when I started doing my family histories. :D

I have tried to find a marriage certificate and so far have not had any luck, but with all the different surname spellings I will try again when I can get to the Library.
Thaks once again for all the help, it was great info and it will give me somethings to put into the missing gaps.

Hi Dee,

Yes, it would be great to have the reference for Daniel Cahill and Ellen Lenehan's  marriage and it will save me ringing the library to see when iI can get a time slot, then I will get a copy of the certificate.

Thanks very much for that.

Annette. 8)

Thanks Dee.
I now see why I could never find it as I would not have thought it could have been spelt that way.
Makes you wonder just how many are miss spelt and registered that way.
