Thank you for all the info you have given me.
I got the info regarding the marriage from John Cahill birth certificate. It has marriage on November 16th 1871 Melbourne Victoria. The John Cahill born 1886 was my Grandfather.
Daniel age 42yrs and Ellen Cahill formerly Lenehan 34yrs. It is what I am going on, and I was told by my late mother whoDaniels parents were and also Ellen's were when I started doing my family histories.

I have tried to find a marriage certificate and so far have not had any luck, but with all the different surname spellings I will try again when I can get to the Library.
Thaks once again for all the help, it was great info and it will give me somethings to put into the missing gaps.
