Essex [& London & Kent] Pubs
« on: Monday 10 September 07 01:04 BST (UK) »
All,
Just a reminder, the complete works of Ian Hunter for essex Pubs, plus additions, plus London & now Kent Pubs are available (historical data only) at the Essex pub site. All web site addresses still work, eg essexpub.net, essexpub.com, http://londonpublichouse.com, pubsinlondon.net etc etc - see my links at the bottom of posting.
There are in excess of 12,000 pages, and a whole host of images, but I am always looking for new info.

I got fed up with looking like a monkey, and now host with a picture of my grandmother, a lovely cuddly woman, who I was never fortunate to meet in her younger days, but she was gorgeous (see my picture).
Thanks,

And Enjoy.

Kevan

Six years on, and still running the same sites - but under different names. There are now about 50,000+ pages and 10,000+ images.
The site pubshistory.com aka all the other names, has a sister site pubhistory.co.uk which starts to add some of the Northern areas, e.g. Manchester.

Enjoy,
Kevan

Brilliant site Kevan...have dipped into it now and again to see what you have had on my local area. I do not know if you would be interested but The Plough at Romford Common is mentioned in the book "The Romford Outrage, the murder of Inspector Thomas Simmons, 1885" by Linda Rhodes & Katherine Abnett, as David Dredge, one of those that were involved in the murder, married Mary Ann Aylett, step daughter to John Holder the publican of the Plough. Holder died in 1866 and his widow took over the running of the public house whilst Dredge is thought to have taken over the hay & straw business previously run by John Holder at the Plough.

Excellent site Kevan. I haven't used it for a while but have found it very useful in the past. Glad it is still working, as so many interesting sites I had added to my favourites list over the years, no longer work.
Well done!
