Census request - Lambert Family
« on: Sunday 09 September 07 16:40 BST (UK) »
Hi,

I've finally tracked down the branch of the Lambert family I am research, and was wondering if anyone with access to the 1891, 71, 61 and 51 censuses would be able to help with some lookups?

I currently have an Albert Lambert b. 1870 East Donyland, Essex. He had a brother, Henry Victor, born 1867, and his mother was named Rosamund. She was a widow at the time of the 1881 census though so I don't know the name of the father.

Any help tracing them would be much appreciated!

Thanks, for this and all the other help people on this site have given me these last few months. It's a great place!

Anna xx

Hi both  :)

They're not only transcribed as Massett - it's what it says on the image  ??? (Could be Mussett)

Henry age 4 is Henry V indeed.

Wow, thanks Wozzle and Tati!!!

This is *really* interesting, as I recall a cousin of mine tearing her hair out over the fact that her branch of Lamberts kept changing surname to and from Massett/Mussett for no apparant reason! Looks like we have  a reason now though - Emily Lambert brought the "Lambert" part into the family....

If you're interested, basically the reason behind my interest is that  my paternal grandmother (maiden name Lambert) married a Leonard Lambert, and I could never find anything out about his line. Its looking though like the two lines are connected back in the 1800s with the Mussett/Massetts origin. We thought there must be a connection somewhere, but could never find it - thanks to you now we have!

*keeps watching eagerly to see what else comes up!*

I can't ID Henry in 1851 at all - he's not with Thomas and Emily - nor in 1841. Can anybody else see him?  :)
