On my dad's side my grandfather was born 1860 in Leek, Staffordshire. Mind you he was in his sixties when my dad was born, and nearly in his seventies when dad's brother was born ( both of a second marriage).  Dad doesnt remember much of his father, wonder why  he was most probably catching his breath

My 4 grandpqrents were born between 1874 and 1881 over a period of seven years, but their deaths were spread over 51 years. None died from accidental or directly from war related events so it is interesting to correlate their life spans with those of other family members.
Poor Gilbert's short life was probably not helped by his time in France during WW1, or even by his mission field endeavours earlier but he had lived and experienced much.

If you really want to think old, my husband's grandfather was born in 1843.
