Hi there
This is my great grandmother, Rosehannah. She was born in 1863. This photo was taken in 1940, a year before her death. She was killed along with her daughter and grandaughter during a German bombing raid on Coventry in 1941. :'(

Many, many thanks, Judy  :) :)
There is a great site on Coventry

Thank you Ludovica

Just had a quick look and found it really interesting. My grandma and her family aren't on it, as they didn't live in Coventry. They lived in a small village called Chilvers Coton, near Nuneaton, famous nowadays for its association with the novelist George Eliot. They lived almost opposite the church, in adjoining houses. It seems that on their way back from a raid on Coventry the bombers had some "spares" and maybe saw the church and so aimed for that. The church was very badly damaged to that night.

I will contact the website and ask them if they would like to include Roseannah and her relatives. Thanks again for your help! Judy  :)
Best wishes, Judy :-))

Hi Ludovica

You inspired me to look for more information about the bombings - it seems that the whole of Nuneaton was targeted that night, and in all 110 people were killed. So maybe it wasn't anything to do with Coventry after all - unless they mistook Nuneaton for Coventry, which isn't too far away. Judy
Best wishes, Judy :-))
