Hi JJ,
I had considered that and therewere a lot of Spencer's in Enderby at the that time. I have to sit down and try and sort them into some semblence of order ::)
It could be a possibilty though.

Hi - have  you found the Enderby Village site?   Transcriptions of Births, Marriages & Deaths plus census 1841 though to 1901.  There was an Independent Chapel in Enderby - baptism records at Wigston Record Office - not sure of the time scale but I think about 1840 to about 1900. (The chapel was still standing a couple of years ago)

google     -          theyorks.org.uk/enderbyvillage%201.

Hi Valry,
Thanks you the information about the website but I somehow accidently came across it a few weeks ago. I keep meaning to go down to Enderby and have a walk around but I can never seem to get there.
Many thanks
Abi

 ??? ???
Well, I tried looking through the medthodist church records which are very confusing, but from what I managed to deduce they are largely stored in London and only a few select years are kept at the records office. I didn't manage to locate any information about Wormelighton family members. So I'll now try another train of thought, does anyone know what the Independant church in Narborough was, that Mike mentioned above?

Greeting’s………. Abi….

Last Monday evening
I spoke with the Curate of St. John’s Parish Church Enderby.
He seems to think that the
“ Independent Church for Narborough”  could well be the
Congregational Church in the centre of the village.

MIKE.

Hi Abi

There is/was an Independent Chapel in Enderby.  Took info from this sometime ago at Wigston Record Office - unfortunately did not take fiche numbers but have headed my notes :

'A Register of Baptism belonging to the Congregation Assembly in the Independent Chapel in Enderby'.  Have also written (United Reform).

Have just found:   Enderby United Reform Church births & baptisms (microfiche) 1838-1905 DE 4777.

Hope it helps - Valry

Many thanks Mike, Valry and JJ I'll try those suggestions too. I don't suppose anyone knows whether there was a congregational church in the area of Bedford street / Fleet street at all in the 1840's?
Sorry to appear so dim but I haven't got any maps of the area at that time.
Cheers Abi

Don't know if this helps but later, in 1881:
George F. DICINSON  ( actually Rev. Dickenson) was the "Independent Minister Of Enderby Chapel"
He resided at "Chapel St. The Manse, Enderby" in 1881
