I`m looking for Henry Hancock he was born at Worksop Nottingham my last known location was at Sheffield living at 79 Dobbins Yard on the 1871 census RG10/4684 with his wife Ann and son Arthur and daughter Alice.

Are you sure he died befor 1881? Have you found widow on 1881 to narrow date of death?

Yes it is odd
On the 1881 Ann is listed as married - not as a widow - but I have had no luck finding Henry listed elsewhere on the 1881. 
There is a death for a Henry Hancock on freebmd in Sep 1891 aged 71 in Sheffield but if this was him where was he on the census in 1881 and possibly 1891 census ?
