Hi, Do you see the Patrick Kelly born in Port Glasgow?  It was actually 1862 in the I.G.I. and I think by this time they had started to put the place and date of parents marriage of birth certs.  A check on Scotlandspeople for the birth cert should hopefully supply a more detailed description , rather than just Ireland.

There was a short period between 1856 and 59/60 ish when parents marriage place and date was omitted.

Thanks for the correction. Have changed the original posting to correct date with a note.

Kellyfamily18- you still haven't answered the question I've asked-
When you say 'marriage extracts' and 'death extracts' what exactly do you mean? Is it the actual certificates or a transcribed reference?
Away sorting out DNA matches... I may be gone for some time many years!

Ah BUT!!   It's not Thomas's you need but PATRICKS 1862!

I double checked one of my own  July 1861 certs and the place and date of marriage had been put back on the certs by that time.

I did a quick free search on S.P. and there is only one Patrick Kelly born in Renfrewshire in 1862.  Then I clicked Port Glasgow too, and he is still there, he's practically begging to be bought, and hopefully no credits should be wasted.

Go get Patricks cert, fingers crossed.   Sometimes it's a long road for a short cut  ;D

I have a branch of Kellys of my own, so I understand your frustration.  Let us know how you get on with the cert and where the couple got married.  I'll look in tonight after work and see if there is any result.  My moneys on Donegal, but I won't mind being proved wrong.

Hi tootsiepie
I have cert for Patrick from Scotlands people, looking at it before I just assumed it said 1943 June Ireland, but could it possibly be 1943 Tuam Ireland??????
What do you think?
I agree with you bout Donegal, call it a gut feeling if you like but for a long while I've thought the Inishowen Peninsula, Moville, Buncrana and I don't know why, and do you know I think i'll be a wee bit dismayed if I am wrong :-\

Hi, Rotten Luck with Patricks birth cert, and I think it says June too. My feelings still go with Donegal and Inishowen but I may be biased, I have a lot of family from there.
I'm sure when you eventually find out where your family came from , you will be delighted. No matter what part of Ireland it is.

One last question (maybe 3).   The cert that the surname Housten is on, can you look at it again.  Is it clearly HOUS...

Also did you see  the Cecilia McLachlan (sp) born to a Neil and Catherine McCann in Port Glasgow?  It may be nothing but I thought it curious.

Any likely possible relatives  for neighbours in the 61 census?

Hi Tootsiepie
I hope I do find out where my line of Kelly's are from.  I,ve only waited nearly 4 years,  and I feel at the end of my tether with it,  talk about sheer frustration ::) I,m desperate to find out where in Ireland we are from,  so I can visit with my family :)
Looking at this death cert again of Cecelia Mclaughlin, as it states her parents names, it seems to me maybe her mother's maiden name isn't Housten, maybe it's Houten or something else, i t's frustrating for me as well cos every cert I have for Cecelia McLaughlin the spelling of both her names is differant every time, i.e Sicily, Celia, Secelia, McLaughlin Mcloughlin, Mclachlan maybe a fresh pair of eyes could decipher Hou....

Hi, I looked at your message because some of my Halls from County Galway have Kelly connections, also an Edgar family.  However, I looked at your cert and it seemed to me to say Elizabeth McLaughlin nee Hooton. I zoomed it and this is what I saw.  I don't know if this will help you or not.
