Welcome to RootsChat.
All of the names mentioned are common in County Down. Take a look at Ros Davies's site and see if anything rings a bell for you.

All of the names mentioned are common in County Down.
Unfortunately all the surnames are common all over Ireland not just in Co. Down.

IGI lists 3 possiblities for children (born in Port Glasgow, Scotland):
Daniel Kelly & ___:
1. Eliza Kelly born 13 Mar.1857 (mother Cecelia McLaughlan)
2. Patrick Kelly born 18 Aug.1862 (mother Cecelia McLaughlin)
3. Thomas Kelly born 13 Aug.1859 (mother Sicilia McLachlan)

If the family did move to Scotland there will be far more records available there than in Ireland and some of them might give clues to where they actually came from in Ireland. If Daniel and Ceccilia died in Scotland their death certificates might list a place of birth (other than Ireland), census records might give clues as to the county, etc. Think you need to go through all Scottish records before looking in Ireland.

Note: originally posted with incorrect date of birth (1859) for Patrick.

Hi everyone, and thanks to everyone who has replied to my query ;).When I posted my query I only posted a few details but my Kelly family did indeed come to Port Glasgow Scotland, Daniel & Cecelia had 2 children in Ireland (possibly more) but they had a son Michael and a daughter Ellen in Ireland, I have managed to obtain all possible BDM'S relating to my family in Port Glasgow and nothing states which part of Ireland they came from!!! :-\

Did the two children born in Ireland marry in Scotland? Church records or marriage certificates might list birthplace.
Have you checked all census records (including all for children born in Ireland)?
Death certificates for children born in Ireland?

I have both marriage extracts of the children born in Ireland none of which states location in Ireland, I have death extract for Michael Kelly which does not state location in Ireland although I havn' t managed to obtain a death cert for Ellen Kelly, I havn't got my records at hand but i'm sure she married a McCullogh in Port Glasgow, I,l try locating this death cert maybe it will say, Thanks for the suggestion, I,ve checked census from port glasgow they are on 1851 1861 1871 1881 census but does not state whereabouts in Ireland.

When you say 'marriage extracts' and 'death extracts' what exactly do you mean? Is it the actual certificates or a transcribed reference?
