Canada - How to find children born after 1909

Can anyone advise me how I can find children born after 1909 in Canada.

Hi Fiona ... I'd like to know that too ... can I suggest you repost your query on the Canada board ... where it might get seen by more Canadians ? 

You could start off by searching the Canadian census for 1911 on
http://automatedgenealogy.com/census11/index.jsp
if you know the names of the parents, and see if there are any children listed ?

Otherwise, I think we'll have to see what the Canadians can suggest !

Canadian records are by Province and each Province has different records and rules about access. Do you know where in Canada the children might have been born? Aside from actual birth records there are sometimes other ways to get a birthdate and place. Sorry can't help further without more information.

I do not have much info and no experience of Canadian records so any help or advise much appreciated.Info I have

James Leishman b1881 Humbie East Lothian married  Susan B Cockburn July 1909 dob1885 USA.James and Susan married in North Bay,Ontario, Canada.

I have been told a family story that 2 Leishman brothers married 2 Cockburn sisters and both had large families.So my mission now is to prove of disprove this family story.

Hi Fiona,

Besides BMD records in Ontario you may want to look at telephone books and other resources in the area where you think your rellies were/are. I am from Ontario, unfortunately from the other side of northern Ontario from North Bay. Many libraries carry the local phone books back to when they were 1st published as well as local family histories. I've been told that the metro Library in Toronto has many of the telephone books from many cities and towns in Ontario, If North Bay library doesn't have them that far back, the Metro Toronto Library may. The genealogy staff in Toronto and other library staff elsewhere have been very nice and helpful to me in the past in my search for rellies through the telephone books, family histories, and other resources. Hope this helps you out.
