Hello Lizzie.
Sorry Lizzie no, not much more on the Sizer family.
The IGI have a Christening for a Thomas Sizer in Knaresborough, in 1763 Father Thomas and I think that this could be mine Thomas, he would have been born around this time.
There is also a Richard Sizer, Christening 1767 in Knaresborough Father also Thomas.  But need more infomation about this Sizer family.

Regards Laurence

Hi Lawrence
Many thanks for your reply. I had come across mention of some Sizers in Knaresborough before (can't remember where) and wondered if there was a connection with mine. Certainly wouldn't rule it out, given the proximity of Knaresborough to Harewood where my Richard got married. The baptism date of 1767 would also fit quite well. But as you say, we need more info. My next job is to get hold of Richard's marriage licence documentation to see if there's a clue there.

Regards, Lizzie

Hello Lizzie,

I notice you have not been on the site for a while but are you still interested in finding out about the SIZERs?

I am a Sizer that originates from that area and my mother has been doing a family tree and found out quite a lot recently.

Hi
Thanks so much for getting in touch. I haven't looked at Rootschat for a long while but I'm definitely still interested in finding out about the SIZER family.

Since I posted my last message back in 2009 I've been able to take my line back a bit further by using the Yorkshire parish records on Findmypast. I have now got as far as my 6 x great-grandfather Thomas SIZER who married Magdalene RUSSELL in Knaresborough in 1726. His grandson Richard SIZER was born in Knaresborough but moved with his wife Eleanor (nee HAGUE) to Hull, and their son John b 1801 (my ggg grandfather) eventually settled in London.

If you are able to send and receive personal messages, I can PM you with further details. I would be very interested in hearing more about your SIZERs as well.

Kind regards

Lizzie

Hi Lizzie,

It's my mother who has been looking into the family tree actually but I am related to the Richard Sizer who started Sizer Ltd and owned the house now called Wentworth Guest House (close to Hull).

Don't know if that is the branch you are interested in?

If so then I could maybe put you in touch with my mother.

Hello again

I think that the Richard SIZER who started Sizer Ltd may have been my ggg grandfather's nephew but in any case, I'm pretty sure that we are talking about the same family so I would love to know more.

Please do feel free to put me in touch with your mother. Is she registered with Rootschat? If not, perhaps you could PM me and I can let you have my email address.
