Wragg family
« on: Friday 31 August 07 19:54 BST (UK) »
I have a 95 year-old friend, Edward Wragg who is interested in looking into his family history. ANY information on the WRAGG family who lived at Winfarthing would be greatly appreciated. I realise that this is a 'tall order' but it would make an 'old boy' very happy.

Hi RobPhill,

Can you just ask him for his parents' (and maybe even grandparents') names?  :)

The 1901 census has only 1 Wragg in Winfarthing:
RG13/1865 70 4
Short Green

Henry E Wragg, head, wid, 59, Yardman on Farm, b. New Lakenham
Helen J Allen, niece, s, 31, Housekeeper, b. Ambleside

Ring any bells?  :)

Hi, Tati & Ricky1,
Many thanks for your information on the Wragg family. I have talked to Ted Wragg and gleaned a little more info:

Edward H. Wragg b. Sept 1912 at Erpingham, Norfolk

His father:  Leonard Henry, b. Dec. 1882 in Norwich, married Emily Edith Merry

His grandfather: Leonard Joseph, b. 1848 married Annie Maria Woodcock in Jun. 1876
(This one I found on the 1881 census via familysearch)

There seems to be a great lack of information on familysearch for the Norfolk region. From what I have found so far, the birth was  recorded in the parish register but failed to note the names of the parents!!
If you could supply any further details, Ted & I would be most grateful. He is now 95 years old and still an active member of our Rotary Club. Hope for us all yet!!
Regards,
Rob.Phill

Curiously, Edward's mother's maiden name is Bracey on the index for Edward's birth  ???
