Morning all!

that Blackler/Mumford birth is interesting - but at least you proved it is not another of Mary's, if parents were Emma Blackler and Henry Mumford (Our Mary married Charles Mumford)

What we havnet done, and what would be interesting if anyone has access, is to find Mary in 1861 and 1851,  with her family, she should be Blackler then. Can see if she has sister Emma. Who knows, she may be living next door to Newtons, or Mumfords, or Saunders, or Bennetts.

This would also help establish her fathers name, so that when the marriage certs arrive (cant wait!) it will be more obvious that theu are her.

I guess that is another scenario - that there is more than one Mary around, though the way the children tie up through the censuses implies it IS the same family throughout.

Hi everyone

Thanks for that Wozzle ....

1851
Village of Broad Hempston
George Blackler head mar 35 ag lab b Lytton, cornwall
Sarah wife mar 31 b Broad Hempston
George son 8 b BH
Mary dau 4 b BH
Susanna dau 8 months b BH
lodging with them are the Cowley family

George and Sarah (parents) seem to be messing around with their ages ! :-\ also george is now born in Cornwall and not Devon ummmm

I think this may be their marriage:
George BLACKLER to Sarah COWLEY
Dec 1843 Newton Abbot, Devon
vol 10 pg 275

There are a few BLACKLER Families in this village .... Some of them are farmers with lots of acreage , one is even a landed proprietor/surveyor & engineer.
