maybe these are HER children, there is no mention of step children!

I wonder if she ever married again ... as she was only 45 in 1901 .... ;D

Ihave birth cert says mary blackler father Thomas newton seems odd to me as george was born before marriage in 1872/3

it's all very confusing .... I think we should try and find birth reg for the kids... as you said ...Agnes was a Mumford, as was James.

I have had sitautions like yours ... where my Grandad was born 4 years before his parents got married ...his mother , however, used the married name to register him, even though she was not yet married  :-\

I will check the 1901 census again to make sure I transcribed it properly ...

not a mention of step son/dau  :-\

ummm , maybe a mistake on the census takers part ... I don't know, as we do not know who was giving him the info .... maybe one of the BENNETT kids was and didn't know that they were MUMFORDS ...maybe a family secret  ::)
