Welcome to roots chat Loubla,
can you read the name of the ship on the boys hat ?
That might give you a clue.

Welcome to RC Loubla, hope you find it as interesting as I have ........ and as much fun.

For what it's worth, I think the photo might be around 1910 ish ........ don't know why, just a feeling.

Hello Loubla ... welcome to RC !

You could try posting the pic on the Photo Restoration board; then Old Rowley will be sure to see it ... but I think the way RC works, you will first have to rename your picture, otherwise it will tell you there is already a picture with that name !

Hello loubla  :)

I would say the photo dates from around 1900, maybe 1905 or a little later.

Do you have the original?  What does the back look like?

Cheers
Prue

Hi Prue.

I don't have the picture,i believe my cousin has it.
I'll ask what the back looks like.

Would the hat come from a naval ship,we did have some naval people in the family but i'm sure that would of been later than the turn of the century.

I cant see any letters on the hat at all only a zig zag pattern
It looks a bit small if it's an Adult Hat/Cap :-\
That looks like a rosset on the left of the cap with the braid trailing. It looks French to me
