losing connection!!

Hi clever people,

Can anyone tell me why I keep losing my internet connection?  We are not in a flood area and the weather is dry now.  Have checked with BT and provider no answers there.  Could it be a timeout problem?  It is driving me mad!!

I've had similar problems with bt and their not-so-wonderful helpline. 

I've found the solution often lies in switching off the computer, turning off the power, pulling all the plugs out of the router, waiting a minute, replugging & restarting.

I am also having this problem my son told me to pull out the plugs like you say Barbara  but i'm afraid to just incase I cannot get back to normal .I tried clearing my pictures and some old mail also cleared loads from my documents to see if that would help but it didn't

Hi Elizabeth,
Well it's worked for me!  Don't be frightened of it, if I can do it you can, I'm the world's worst at technical wotsits -  take each plug out and lay it next to the place it comes from, then put them back in the same order. Some have colours that match which makes it easier!  Go on, have a go, live a little!!

Rabbit B, sorry it didn't work, I used to have time-out problems when I was on dial-up, kept cutting out after abt 20 mins, but since getting broadband, it only happens now & again, unplugging etc always works for me

if in doubt I always reboot, works a treat, I just wondered if there might have been another reason for this problem!!  Thanks for your reply!
