Ty'rmynach farm at Troedrhiw Seiri
« on: Thursday 16 August 07 11:17 BST (UK) »
I am trying to find information on the Williams family of Ty'rmynach farm at Troedrhiw Seiri close to Penrhyncoch, north Cardiganshire.   The earliest information I have is David Williams, born at the farm about 1797.   He married Catherine Davies, born about 1801 at Cynnullmawr, on 6 April 1821.

They had 13 children between 1822 and 1846 and both David and Catherine were later buried at Salem Chapel, Coed Gruffydd, Trefeurig.

Any information on the forebears and families of David Williams and Catherine Davies gratefully received.

Cheers Dave

Hi Malval, thank you for the information.    Can you tell me where Jane Williams and Owen Davies's daughters were born, I think in Tyrmynach.   I have no further information on either Catherine, 1870, or Mary Ann, 1872 and hope you can help.

David Williams and Catherine Davies are my 3rd great grandparents - I am descended from their daughter Elizabeth, born 1829.

By 1881 census Jane was a widow and worked as a lead ore dresser she is buried at Llanilar Church Yard.? Owen died whilst working in the coal mine in S Wales

Yes I believe she married Edward Clayton about 1855 but have no more definite information.   If you wish to see more of my family follow the link under the picture to the left and look at The Welsh Connection.

The Claytons, I believe, came from Montgomeryshire but I have no definite information.   Any help appreciated.   My line is via Mair Clayton and her daughter Elizabeth Jane Jones.

I think that Mair  is down as LEWIS in the 1861 census with her brother EDWARD entered as CLEASON
ELIZABETH WILLIAMAs  entered as unmarried born 1829 all on TROEDRHIWSEIRI CENSUS
The only record of a marriage between a  EDWARD CLEATON OR CLAYTON to a ELIZABETH WILLIAMS is Jan Feb March 1869 at ABERYSTWYTH VOLUME 11B PAGE110
Hope this information is of use malval
