Hi all,
This thread has been quiet for a while but I have much to add.
-The parents of Mary Ann, James, Matthew Storey and Abner Daglish were James Daglish (born 14 Nov 1796 at gateshead) and Mary Whinham (Bap 7 Jul 1798 at Kingston Upon Hull, Yorkshire)
-James and Mary married 10 Mar 1816 at Sculcoates, Yorkshire.
-James and Mary had three children born Yorkshire, (Richard, Robert and Robert) before moving to North Shields where they had four more. The second Robert died aged 7 in 1829 at Tynemouth.
-James was initially a Blacksmith (like his father Richard) and then became an Innkeeper, running the Bull Ring Inn in North Shields in the late 1820's
-You will not find the baptism for Abner in the early 1830's as he was not baptised until age 14 at St Hildas South Shields on 17 nov 1844 listing his birth date as 21 Jun 1830. (I have digital image of this)
-James Daglish appears to have died in the early 1830's perhaps before Abners birth. On 1 Oct 1834 the widowed Mary Daglish is listed in the Tynemouth Union Workhouse with her four youngest children. (I have digital image of this)
-Mary Whinham's partents were Robert Whinham and Ann Coats. Mary had a younger brother called Abner
-James Daglish's parents were Richard Daglish and Mary Hedger. James had a younger brother called Matthew Storey Daglish who died as an infant.
-All the names of James and Mary's children tie in with their parents and siblings names.
-I'm not sure why Abner listed his father as Richard in his marriage. It is likely a mistake as Abner likely never knew his father.
-James, son of James & Mary died in a mining accident at Percy Main in 1849.
Hope this helps.
Morris
