Monmouthshire Regiment

Hi,

I was wondering whether anybody here could help me at all!

I'm trying to find out where my my great grandfather was born, and his mother's name!

The man I am looking for is Edward EVANS.

He was born c.1893

He was in the Monmouthshire Regiment.  He fought at the Somme in 1916. 
His army number was 1365 and he was a private.

My father believes he was in the Territorial Army previous to WWI.

He married Maude BRUCE in Bedfordshire on 30 October 1915.

And he died in January 1940. 
His entry in the Fleur-de-Lys burial register was as follows.

Edward Evans - 39 Edward Street, Pengam - January 13th 1940 - 46 - Rev Morgan Lewis, Baptist.

It looks like you have  Edward and Maudes marriage cert what was Edwards Fathers name and occupation?

Oh sorry, I meant to add that also.    I've lost my head.  Lol.

His father's name is Richard Evans
Occupation - Engineer

Six possibles come up in Wales For Edward Evans born approx 1893 Father-Richard.But none of the Edwards are born in Monmouth and not any of the Richards are engineers.Of course Richard could have had different occupation then ?
Do you know where Edward was supposed to be born?
What were Edward and Maudes childrens names that sometimes helps?

I have been told that Edward was born in West Wales, but I have a hunch that he was born somewhere close to Monmouthshire.

Edward and Maude's children were
Teddy (Ted)
Stanley
Phylis
Ivor (my grandfather - b 31/03/1919 d 10/92
(stillborn daughter Grace(Gracie))

They aren't in the correct order but I know Teddy is the oldest (somewhere around 90 now) but lives up north somewhere.

Was hoping the childrens names were family names.But cant narrow it down theres still 6 possibles.Will look again tomorrow.
